Deadly Crash Suspect Shot To Death By Police

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4)- A man was shot and killed by police in Grand Junction after officers say he struck a motorcycle, killing the driver.

Officers say David Gaines, 17, was speeding in a truck when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a motorcycle.

Police said Gaines ran from the crash scene and was seen carrying a gun.

Police said he was attempting to carjack another vehicle when officers arrived on scene.

Officers shot Gaines, he did not survive.

According to KREX in Grand Junction, Gaines had been in a physical altercation with his father prior to the shooting.
