Day Of Service Signups Open On The Web

DENVER (CBS4) - Xcel Energy is hosting a Day of Service on Saturday, September 12th and volunteers can sign up on the Web.

"We really tried to streamline how people can volunteer, how they can see what projects are available, how they can go in and see what they need, when the event is, all the details and logistics that they need," said Jerome Davis, Regional Vice President for Xcel Energy.

Last year thousands of volunteers came out to make a big impact in the community. Projects include everything from landscaping work to making blankets and packing supplies.

"We will have over 60 projects throughout the state, ranging from Grand Junction, Pueblo, Greeley, Fort Collins, certainly the Denver Metro Area, so we'll be all over the State," Davis told CBS4.

The energy utility hosts Day of Service around September 11th every year, as a way to remember the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11.

"This is sort of our way of doing it by bringing a lot of volunteers together for the good of the community for a lot of work to improve the community," Davis explained.

Day of Service is Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 11a.m. Projects are available all over the state.
