Rep. Pabon Absent From DUI Bill Signing Following His Arrest

DENVER (CBS4) - State Rep. Dan Pabon on Tuesday didn't attend a bill signing on tougher drunk driving laws after being arrested himself for suspicion of DUI.

Pabon helped pushed the bill that requires offenders to attend a victim impact panel.

Supporters say his absence doesn't take away from the bill's importance.

"It's really unfortunate because of the actions the representative spoke about yesterday," Fran Lanzer with Mothers Against Drunk Driving said. "It's really unfortunate he wasn't able to be here because he did work very hard on this bill, and this bill is going to help prevent DUIs, and it's going to help save lives."

Pabon was pulled over on St. Patrick's Day. He admitted to having several drinks before getting behind the wheel and gave a tearful apology on the House floor on Monday.
