CU-Denver Students Treat New 'Plane To The Train' Passengers To 'Iron Pour'
DENVER (CBS4) - It was another busy day for the new Train to the Plane on Saturday and there were also some fun activities along the way.
The Regional Transportation District's A Line opened Friday with free rides from Union Station to Denver International Airport through Saturday evening.
The decades-long project is finally a reality for Denver. The trip from Union Station to DIA takes around 37 minutes. Tickets cost $9 and are good all day.

University of Colorado-Denver's College of Arts and Media took part in the excitement with the traditional "iron pour." Art students showcased their iron-casting and sculpting skills at the new 38th and Blake station. They heated scraps to 2,300 degrees and then poured the molten metal into molds they personally sculpted.
"It's something inherent in all of us as humans. We need to be doing this and I have the privilege of teaching sculpture to young artists, and to see them express themselves and go into a professional career in the arts is just the perfect reward for what I do," said Rian Kerrane, head of sculpture at CU-Denver. "Now that you've learned where the train stops at 38th and Blake Street in the RiNo District, come here to wine, dine and see arts. This is the heart of your city of Denver."
Visitors could even craft their own molds and have the students fill it with iron for a souvenir.
