CSU's Michael Martin A Finalist For Florida State President

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP/CBS4) - Four candidates are moving ahead in the search for a new president at Florida State University, including Michael Martin, chancellor of the Colorado State University System.

A FSU search committee on Tuesday voted to choose powerful politician John Thrasher as one of the candidates.

Along with Martin, the other candidates include West Virginia University Provost Michele Wheatly, and Richard Marchase, a vice president at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The committee debated, but ultimately decided against including FSU interim president Garnett Stokes on the list.

The search committee interviewed 11 candidates over the last two days before taking the vote.

FSU has been without a president since Eric Barron stepped down to take the top post at Penn State University.
