CSU Can't Keep Up With UNLV, 87-80

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Patrick McCaw had 20 points, Jalen Poyser set career highs with 19 points, five rebounds and six assists and UNLV beat Colorado State 87-80 on Saturday night.

Ike Nwamu added 14 points including the dunk with 23 seconds left that clinched it for the Rebels (15-11, 6-7 Mountain West Conference) at 86-76. Dwayne Morgan scored 13 points and Jerome Seagears 11.

UNLV took control with an 8-2 run that made it 50-41 with 13:10 left. Colorado State's Joe De Ciman stopped that run with a 3-pointer, but the Rams (14-11, 6-6) never got closer and steadily lost ground until Poyser's 3-pointer with 6:50 left gave the Rebels their largest lead at 71-56.

McCaw had four of UNLV's 12 steals, leading a defensive effort which contributed to 21 Rams turnovers.

De Ciman had 16 points to lead Colorado State. Antwan Scott and John Gillon added 13 each.
