CSP Trooper Vehicle Struck On I-25 During Traffic Stop

DENVER (CBS4) - A Colorado State Trooper's vehicle was struck on Interstate 25 shortly before 5:20 a.m. Tuesday.

It happened near East 58th Avenue while the trooper was conducting a routine traffic stop. The trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A witness said the trooper was in the patrol car writing a ticket when a vehicle slammed into the back.

The driver of the vehicle who struck the trooper's car fled on foot, but officers had the person in custody by 5:30 a.m.

Traffic began to build by 5:30 a.m. and backed up for at least a mile.
