Enormous Crowd Takes Part In Women's March In Denver
DENVER (CBS4) - Tens of thousands of women from across Colorado gathered in Civic Center Park in Denver Saturday for a solidarity march.
The "Women's March on Denver" got going before 10 a.m. and continued into the afternoon.
At Colfax Avenue and Broadway women, girls -- and many males, too -- were filling the streets, many carrying signs. No traffic was getting through in that intersection and many others along the march route due to the large turnout of people.
Some signs had messages about racial equality, environment, health care and unification. Others made direct references to President Donald Trump's statements.

One person in the march told her friend "it's just like the 60s!"
"We wanted equal rights, just like here. It was all about the Freedom Riders and we wanted all people to have freedom. And we're back here saying this again, and we're saying it loud and clear," the woman said. "This is about all people."
Event organizers had said the event would not take the tone of a protest of the new presidential administration. However, they said the rally would be an event which calls for social justice for women.

Lauren Casteel, CEO of The Women's Foundation of Colorado, was a speaker and told CBS4 she would be talking about equal rights for women.
The march in Denver takes place after Trump was sworn in as president on Friday. The largest women's march in the nation also took place in Washington D.C. at approximately the same time as the Denver march.
