Criminal Probe Of Grand Junction Airport Ends; No Arrests
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A federal criminal investigation into fraud allegations at the Grand Junction airport has ended with no criminal charges filed.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported Tuesday airport officials say they can now move ahead on issues that had been held up because of the investigation, including a lawsuit over an unfinished building and problems with a fence around the airport perimeter.
The investigation began in November 2013. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Denver announced Friday it was ending the probe.
Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority Chairman Rick Wagner says a federal civil investigation is still underway. He says he can't discuss it.
The authority agreed last year to change its accounting and oversight procedures at the request of the Justice Department.
