Crews Open Two Lanes On Central City Parkway After Rockslide

CENTRAL CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - The road connecting Interstate 70 and Highway 119 is open to motorists again after a rockslide closed the road for a week.

Crews opened one lane in each direction on the four-lane road for the weekend.

But the rockslide isn't over, so workers installed barriers to catch any remaining rocks that may tumble down the cliff.

The slide occurred on Monday about a mile-and-a-half from the Interstate 70 junction.

The parkway is one route casino patrons use to reach Central City from I-70. Another route, Highway 6 through Black Hawk, is an alternative. Cleanup was hampered because engineers had difficulty reaching the location and because the road is not maintained by the state.
