5 Hurt In Apartment Fire In Wheat Ridge

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) -- Five people were transported to the hospital after a fire at an apartment fire in Wheat Ridge. Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the complex at 44th and Tabor when Copter4 flew overhead Friday afternoon.

There's no word on the ages or identities of the five people who went to the hospital, but officials with the Arvada Fire Protection District said they are all expected to survive.

Firefighters say smoke alarms alerted residents to the fire and allowed people to get out before it was too late.

There is no information available yet about what caused the fire.

The fire was considered under control at 5:50 p.m.
