Crews Fight 100 Acre Wildfire Near Fowler
FOWLER, Colo. (CBS4)- Firefighters battled a wildfire burning near Fowler on Wednesday night that started as a prescribed burn that got out of control.
The fire grew to 100 acres near the rural town in Otero County, southeast of Pueblo. Authorities requested that a portion of Highway 50 be closed.
A total of nine agencies helped battle the fire that was threatening three structures.
Crews started to get control of the fire about 8:30 p.m.
That area of Colorado is extremely dry, that area was under a Red Flag Warning on Wednesday.
The prescribed burn was conducted on Tuesday but flared up again on Wednesday.
