Crews Break Ground On Affordable Housing In Stapleton

DENVER (CBS4)- Crews broke ground on 165 affordable housing units in Stapleton on Monday.

Officials say the townhomes are special because they're energy efficient which should help low-income families.

"Most of them are coming out of rentals, and as we know rents go up often. So there's a lot of stability that comes with owning your own home. You don't have to worry about what will happen at the end of your lease," said CEO of Thrive Home Builders Gene Myers.

The homes are available for people who earn less than 80 percent of the average median income. People could start moving into the homes later this year.
