Crews Battling Wildfire Burning On The Eastern Plains

DEER TRAIL, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters battled a wildfire that broke out Tuesday afternoon on the Eastern Plains north of the town of Deer Trail.

The fire burned well under 100 acres near Highway 36 at mile marker 119.

Firefighters from Byers, Deer Trail and Strasburg fought the fire.

Crews were mopping up late Tuesday afternoon. No structures were threatened.

The area is on the northern edge of a Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service due to the combination of gusty winds, low relative humidity and unseasonably warm temperatures.
