Denver Officer Hurt In Chain-Reaction Crash On I-25

DENVER (CBS4) - Officials with Denver police say the cause of a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 25 that injured a Denver police officer and shut down the northbound lanes for two hours is unclear so far.

The crash took place at approximately 4:30 a.m. and the closure led to heavy backups.

The officer was doing some sort of traffic stop when they or their car were hit by another car. Four vehicles in all were damaged.

The officer's injuries were described as serious.

The northbound lanes of the highway reopened just after before 6:30 a.m.

Alcohol is being investigated as one possible factor.
