Crash East Of Longmont Heavily Damages 2 Cars, 1 Hurt

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning in a destructive crash on Highway 66 east of Longmont.

The crash took place near the intersection of Highway 66 and Weld County Road 5, about two miles west of Interstate 25.

Images from Copter4 showed one car flipped on its side in the road. It appeared to be heavily damaged. Another car appeared to have even worse damage. It came to rest in a field next to the road.

Both lanes of the road were closed at 6:30 a.m. but some traffic was getting by on the shoulder.

Officials with Mountain View Fire Rescue were on the scene.

It's not clear how badly hurt the person is who was taken to the hospital.
