Air Force Academy Once Again Welcomes Visitors After 17 Months

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Air Force Academy is once again welcoming visitors. The campus has been closed for the past 17 months, since the pandemic began.

Now visitors can be on campus but they must wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

The Air Force Academy was declared a national landmark in 2004 and is a popular tourist destination. Typically about a million people each year visit the campus.

While the campus is open,  the Cadet Chapel remains closed for repairs. That work is supposed to be completed by the end of 2023.  The Air Force Academy says that chapel is the most visited man-made tourist attraction in Colorado.
