Counterfeit $20 Bills Turning Up At Lafayette Banks

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Lafayette are searching for the source of counterfeit $20 bills that have been turning up a banks.

The fake bills were found among deposits from local merchants.

"Merchants are urged to check bill carefully before accepting them and to train employees how to check for counterfeit bills," the Lafayette Police Department said in a statement.

Police recommend visiting websites for more information on identifying counterfeit bills.
