Cory Gardner Slams Obama On Radio Address
DENVER (AP) - U.S. Rep. Cory Gardner, locked in a tight challenge to Democratic Senator Mark Udall, gave the Republican Party's national radio address Saturday, slamming President Obama and Senate Democrats for delaying the construction of the Keystone Pipeline.
Gardner contended that the six-year delay in construction of the pipeline that would ferry oil from Canada to U.S. ports deprives the country of jobs. "Thousands of Americans are missing out on the good paying jobs the pipeline would create," he said.
The pipeline would not pass through Colorado, and most of the predicted jobs would be temporary construction work. But Republicans have hammered Udall over the issue. The incumbent voted against plans to approve the pipeline in June, though Udall's office said that was because he did not want to inject politics into its approval process.
Republicans need to net six seats in November to win control of the Senate. Colorado's race is one of the closest and most expensive in the country.
