Coroner Confirms Body Of Missing South Platte River Tuber Found

DENVER (AP) - The body of a man who fell into the South Platte River while tubing last weekend has been found.

The body of 20-year-old Joseph Goodwin was found Sunday. The Denver coroner's office confirmed his identity Monday and said the cause of death was still to be determined.

Goodwin fell off his inner tube in Sheridan on June 20. Releases from Chatfield Dam into the river were temporarily slowed last week to aid the search for him.

This year, at least 12 people have died in Colorado's rivers, which have been running high because of both the annual snow melt and heavy rain this spring.

A University of New Mexico student is also missing after jumping into the Animas River near Durango Thursday. Authorities believe Cody Shane Pierce of Albuquerque drowned.
