Coronavirus In Colorado: Great Sand Dunes Closed To Visitors

(CBS4) -- The Great Sand Dunes are officially closed to all visitors. The closure includes all public access points, park roads, and backcountry access.

The decision is in response to a request from the Alamosa County health department.

Despite stay-at-home orders, the national park saw an increase in visitation, crowding, and a high percentage of out-of-state visitors.

Updates on when the Great Sand Dunes will reopen can be found on the National Parks Service website.
