Deputies Search For Man Who Robbed Copper Mountain Alpine Bank

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – Deputies in Summit County are searching for a bank robbery suspect. The crime shut down an entire resort property for most of Thursday.

"Got a call from a couple of buddies of mine saying the bank was robbed in the building I live in," said Village at Copper building manager Will Cornelsen, who also lives above the bank.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, deputies are searching for single male suspect after the Copper Mountain Alpine Bank was robbed Thursday morning. K9 teams also searched the area.

The suspect was wearing a black hat with a gray and white brim, a black sweatshirt with a fake fuzzy brown beard. The suspect is possibly in his 20s and was wearing tan pants. He didn't show a weapon during the robbery.

Deputies ask that people in the Copper Mountain area remain in place and report any suspicious activity.

"Alerts were going out, Copper was pretty much shut down for about an hour or so, they weren't letting people in or out of Copper," said Cornelsen.

Cornelsen has access to the building's surveillance system.

"Check out the security footage and see what I can do to help out the cops and couldn't really see anything on the surveillance, everything was just kind of quick, short and done in about three minutes time," said Cornelsen.

The same bank was robbed by a man who got away on a bicycle in 2005.
