Construction Worker Killed On The Job In Lefthand Canyon

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators are working to determine how a construction worker was killed in Lefthand Canyon on Friday.

The accident happened in the morning about four miles up the canyon, and Lefthand Canyon Drive was closed.

The man, identified as Nicolas Arrendondo-Uribe, 46, of Greeley, died after being hit by a vehicle, according to witnesses. Boulder County officials described it as an on-the-job accident involving two men working for the same company.

Witnesses said the construction company involved is Greeley-based Duran Excavating. They said the crew was working to repair road damage from last year's flood.

Lefthand Canyon was one of several canyons where floodwaters destroyed homes and roads in September 2013.

Left Hand Canyon Drive was closed at Old Stage Road for several hours. It reopened after 12:30 p.m.
