Commuter Rail Cars Take Test Ride Along Tracks To DIA

DENVER (CBS4)- It's a step that will change the way thousands get to the Denver International Airort. On Friday, the two electric commuter rails were tested on the new tracks from Union Station to DIA.

The testing for the cars on the East Line kicked off a year-long schedule of testing and commissioning prior to opening day in 2016.

The cars were pulled by a diesel-powered "track mobile" and will not operate with the overhead electrical power until later this month along the Pena Boulevard segment of the line.

The cars were tested to give engineers a chance to check track and vehicle conditions.
