Commerce City Police Arrest Domestic Violence Suspect Who Barricaded Himself In Home

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) – Commerce City police asked residents living near East 62nd Avenue and Oneida Street to remain in their homes Monday evening as they dealt with a domestic violence suspect believed to be armed with a gun who refused to come outside of a house. After nearly four hours of negotiations, 23-year-old Phillip Cox exited the home and officers took him into custody.

"There is no further threat to residents in the area," police stated Monday night.

Police said a female victim was treated for injuries at a local hospital and has been released.

Police said Cox will be transported to Adams County Detention Facility on numerous charges, including felony menacing, second degree assault, and domestic violence.
