Comment Sought On Northwest Colorado Energy Lease Sale

MEEKER, Colo. (AP) — Federal officials want public comment on proposed oil and gas lease sales in northwest Colorado next year.

The Bureau of Land Management said Monday it is seeking comment on proposed leases encompassing about 100,000 acres. The sales would be held in May 2017.

The proposed leases are in Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt counties.

The BLM says it wants comment before beginning an environmental assessment on the proposal. The assessment will be released to the public in November.

Details on the proposal can be found online.

Colorado gets 49 percent of proceeds from lease sales with the federal government getting the rest.
