Colorado's Ball Corporation To Close Beverage Packaging Plant In Virginia

BRISTOL, Va. (AP) - Ball Corporation says it plans to close its beverage packaging plant in Bristol, Virginia next year.

The plant employs about 230 employees. Ball says they will be able to apply for open positions within the company.

Broomfield, Colorado-based Ball says the plant will close during the second quarter of 2016.

The plant produces beverage can ends in a variety of sizes. It opened in 1971 and is one of Ball's oldest beverage packaging plants in North America.

Ball announced the plant's closure on Wednesday in news release.
