Watch: Colorado Student Captures Stunning Time-Lapse Video Of Southern Lights

(CBS4) -- A handful of University of Colorado engineering students are in Antarctica right now conducting research at the McMurdo station. Ian Geraghty captured a fabulous time lapse video of the Southern Lights, or aurora australis, while taking a break from research.

He called it the "greatest show on earth."

Geraghty is in Antarctica for 13 months as a research assistant. His group is using two systems to study the upper atmosphere.
