Colorado Senate Passes Bills Supporting Immigrant Community

DENVER (CBS4) -- The state Senate approved two bills that support Colorado's immigrant community.

Sponsored by Sen. Julie Gonzales, one bill would remove barriers to housing assistance. It would end the "proof of lawful presence" requirement for tenants seeking public support services.

The other would eliminate the term "illegal alien" and replace it with "worker without authorization" in state public contracts.

Both bills now move to Gov. Jared Polis' desk for his consideration.
