Colorado Now Home For Man Convicted Of Killing Nearly 50 People

FLORENCE, Colo. (CBS4) - A man convicted of killing nearly 50 people is now behind bars in Colorado.

The CBS affiliate in Seattle confirms Gary Ridgway -- known as the Green River Killer -- has been transferred from a prison in Washington state to the high security U.S. penitentiary in Florence, Colorado.

The Department of Corrections didn't give a reason for the transfer to the Supermax in Florence.

Ridgeway was arrested in 2002. He avoided the death penalty by agreeing to cooperate in the search for the bodies of his victims and pleading guilty in 2003.
