Colorado Mountains Pummeled By Snow And Wind

DENVER (AP) - More snow and high winds are expected in Colorado after portions of the state were pummeled by winter weather and gusting wind.

The National Weather Service said Monday another half a foot of snow and wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour can be expected in northern Colorado. Strong winds are expected on the Front Range.

Areas of western Colorado north of Interstate 70 got 4 to 8 inches of snow Sunday, pushed by wind gusts up to 40 mph. Gusts between 60 and 80 mph blew across the highest ridges near the Continental Divide.

Authorities in Pueblo County say they were forced to close Interstate-25 for a short time Sunday because of blowing dust and a number of traffic accidents.
