Colorado Man Gets 10 Years In Child Sex Sting

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced a northern Colorado man to 10 years in prison following his guilty plea in a child sex sting operation.

Judge Alan B. Johnson sentenced 58-year-old John Scott Pinkerton, of Pierce, Colo., on May 1.

Pinkerton pleaded guilty earlier this year to attempted online solicitation of a minor.

Prosecutors say Pinkerton responded to an advertisement that officers with the Wyoming Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force had placed on the Internet. Prosecutors say Pinkerton agreed to pay $200 to have sex with and photograph a 12-year-old girl.

Pinkerton was arrested when he arrived at a Cheyenne hotel with $200 cash and a digital camera.
