Colorado Man Falls To Death From Central Oregon Cliff

BEND, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a Colorado man fell to his death from a cliff at Benham Falls in Central Oregon.

Cyclists found 62-year-old Daniel Lowry unconscious Saturday in shallow water at the base of the cliff, and paramedics were unable to revive him.

Deputy Liam Klatt of the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office says Lowry fell 40 to 50 feet and there were no signs of foul play.

According to Klatt, the man from Dolores, Colo., planned to go kayaking and was probably scouting the area when he fell.

Benham Falls is a popular recreation area with rapids on the Deschutes River, near Lava Butte between Bend and Sunriver.
