Colorado Law Enforcement Makes 329 DUI Arrests In New Year's Campaign

DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado State Patrol said 329 drivers were arrested during the New Year's DUI enforcement campaign that ran from Dec. 30 to Jan. 5.

Seventy-three law enforcement agencies participated in the "Heat Is On" campaign. The state patrol, with 50, made the most arrests. Aurora police (49), Denver police (47) and Colorado Springs police (32) followed.

During 12 campaigns in 2014, 7,825 drivers were arrested on impaired driving charges.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said there were 466 driving fatalities in 2014, 153 involving impaired drivers.
