Colorado GOP To Talk Blackmail Scandal During Party Meeting

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (AP) — Allegations that several Republican Party members tried to blackmail the chairman of the state GOP into resigning are expected to be discussed during a meeting of Colorado Republican leadership.

Last week, state Republican Chairman Steve House accused Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman, former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, and Pueblo County Party Chairwoman Becky Mizel of telling him to resign or else face reports that he cheated on his wife.

Mizel and Tancredo say House mischaracterized the meeting, and Coffman also says House is not being truthful.

After House read a statement at the meeting Friday morning it was closed to the public.

The gathering was scheduled before House made his allegations.
