Colorado Fugitives Captured In Rhode Island

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) — Police in Rhode Island say they captured a fugitive Colorado couple during a foot chase after authorities caught them trying to sell an assault rifle.

Authorities in Central Falls say 32-year-old Jessica Garrett and 38-year-old John Baker were arrested Wednesday after a confidential source tipped off police. Both are being held without bail on fugitive from justice warrants. Central Falls police also charged them with gun and drug crimes.

Officials say Garrett is wanted in Colorado for escaping from a prison and Baker is wanted for narcotics charges.

Garrett and Baker's responses to the allegations aren't known. It's not clear if they have lawyers. They face extradition to Colorado.

Central Falls police say the couple was caught with a stolen pickup truck, a Bushmaster rifle and 40 rounds of ammo.
