National Parks Celebrate 101st Birthday With Free Day

MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - National parks, monuments, and historic sites across the country are waiving their entrance fees Friday.

The free day is one of ten the National Park Service offers throughout the year.

Friday, Aug. 25 is in celebration of the 101st birthday for the NPS.

Other free days remaining yet in 2017 are Sept. 30 for National Public Lands Day and Nov. 11 and 12 for Veterans Day weekend.

There are a total of 16 designated sites in Colorado.
