Colorado Flags At Half-Staff To Honor Paramedic Killed In Ambulance Crash

DENVER (CBS4) - Flags are flying half-staff across Colorado on Thursday to honor a paramedic killed while on duty.

Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered the move to mark services for 63-year-old Rick Hartley.

Hartley founded the EMS Association in Springfield and was transporting a patient in an ambulance when he died after a crash on Nov. 6. He worked as a paramedic with Southeast Colorado Hospital Service and was the director at the time of his death.

Hartley spent over 30 years working as a paramedic. He also founded a nonprofit dedicated to supporting local first responders.
