Colorado Climber Of Yosemite Fame To Appear At Film Festival

CARBONDALE, Colo. (AP) — A professional climber from Estes Park who completed a first ascent in Yosemite National Park will appear at a film festival in Carbondale.

Tommy Caldwell will attend the 5Point Film Festival April 24-26, festival organizers said Thursday.

Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson became the first to free-climb the Dawn Wall on the El Capitan rock formation in California's Yosemite park in January. Free climbers use ropes and harnesses only for safety but not to help them ascend.

At the film festival, Caldwell will participate in a moderated discussion on how the media affects adventure and attend a screening of the film "A Line Across the Sky." He'll also and appear with other Yosemite Valley climbers at a third event.
