Collom Fire Burns 630+ Acres Southwest Of Craig
MOFFAT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Collom Fire is burning southwest of Craig near Colorado Highway 13 and Moffat County Road 51. The fire is expected to keep Moffat County Road 51 closed on Wednesday.
The fire sparked about 4 p.m. Tuesday and burned through the night. It's burned 639 acres, mostly on private lands. The fire is 5% contained with more than 100 fire crews on scene.
As crews continue to contain the flames, smoke is expected to be visible from Highway 13 and the surrounding areas.
What caused the fire is being investigated but is believed to be linked to surface mining.
