2 Rescued After Exterior Wall Collapses

DENVER (CBS4)- Two people were rescued from a home that partially collapsed on Monday morning.

The two workers were at the home at 3137 W. Denver Place near 38th Avenue and Federal Boulevard that was being renovated when a wall collapsed.

Other workers called for help.

Firefighters rushed to the home and rescued them by digging them out from a pile of bricks. They were rushed to the hospital.

It is unclear the severity of their injuries.

"We have a collapse team with the Denver Fire Department that we like to usually shore up buildings or residences to make it safer for people to enter. We're not able to do that with this residence. There's so much damage, it's so unsafe we're unable to do any work here," said Denver Fire Dept. spokesman Robert Murphy.

One wall of the home is still hanging and could collapse. What caused the collapse is being investigated.

The building department will inspect the home to see what will happen next.
