QB Kaepernick Base Salary Set At $11.9 Million

(The Sports Xchange) - The contract of San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick is now officially set with a base salary of $11.9 million for the 2016 season.

Once the clock hit 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, Kaepernick's salary was locked in. But it still isn't clear whether he will be with the 49ers when the season starts.

San Francisco has a new coach in Chip Kelly but he has not reached out of Kaepernick.

Kaepernick also is recovering from off-season surgeries to his left shoulder, right thumb and left knee.
