The shooting occurred in the 8400 block of East Colfax Avenue just before 2 p.m.

According to Deputy Chief Mat Murray with Denver Police, one suspect was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound after being shot by an Aurora police officer after a short foot chase. Another suspect was taken into custody.

Murray said the suspect who was shot is alive but listed in critical condition.

"Aurora officers were looking for a suspect in a shooting from the 1900 block of Akron Street approximately 8 minutes prior," Murray said. "They found the suspect, notified Denver officers, a short chase ensued which resulted in an officer-involved shooting."
