Cold May Be To Blame For Latest A Line Issue

DENVER (CBS4) - Things are running slower than normal on RTD's A Line trains early Thursday afternoon, but the delays are better than they were in the morning.

Commuters scrambled during the morning hours to get from one train to another when an apparently broken track forced RTD to use a "single tracking" process to get people to and from the airport.

The cold temperatures are the prime suspect in the investigation into the broken track, and the problem is apparently located between Havana Street and Central Park Boulevard.

The overnight low temperature was recorded at -9 in Denver.

A similar problem also happened on the B Line which runs between Westminster and Denver, but the delays from that weren't as bad.

CBS4's Rick Sallinger asked RTD spokesman Nate Currey if more delays should be expected.

"I sure hope not. I think we'll know more tonight and if there are issues related to weather we'll be out inspecting but right now we're not sure exactly what it is," Currey said.

Supplemental buses are running to DIA due to the delays.
