Civilian Police, Army Investigate Pipe Bombs

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (AP) — Civilian police say they were asked to help Army investigators from Fort Carson who found pipe bombs in the garage of a house off-post.

The pipe bombs were found in Fountain on Thursday and disclosed Friday.

Fountain police say the pipe bombs were removed with a bomb squad robot and were rendered safe. Other items described as possible explosives were removed from the house by Army investigators and a Fort Carson bomb squad.

Fort Carson officials referred questions to the Army Criminal Investigation Division. A spokesman for that agency didn't immediately return a call.
