City Park Pond Turns Green With Algae

DENVER (CBS4)- The pond in City Park has turned green with algae but city officials say it's not dangerous.

The recent hot weather streak is partly to blame.

Crews have started treating the water with copper sulfate which is designed to slow the bloom of algae.

Parks staff have also started to skim the surface to bring the algae closer to shore.

Vacuum trucks will then try to suck some of the algae from the pond.

That so-called slime could be used as fertilizer for the park.
