'Cinderella' Musical Continues To Delight Audiences After Nearly 60 Years
DENVER (CBS4)- Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical "Cinderella" continues to delight audiences nearly 60 years after it was first created.
The musical was actually created as a live TV special on CBS starring Julie Andrews in 1957. It returned in 1965 with Leslie Anne Warren as Cindy and then with Brandy in 1997.
The first Broadway production of the musical didn't debut until 2013 which is the tour that is on stage at the Buell Theatre this month.
The show follows the classic story and features several favorite Broadway tunes.
To fit the stage and modern audiences, there have been some changes to the original TV plot. New characters have been added and a few new subplots. Cindy is a bit more modern in her outlook and there are some new songs of out the Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook.

Even with the changes the show plays beautifully on stage.
Cinderella runs through Feb. 15 at the Buell in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts complex, and tickets are selling fast.
