Cigarette Sparked Fire That Apparently Killed Golden Woman

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — Investigators say a fire that apparently killed a woman at a senior living community in Golden started when a cigarette caught her bed on fire.

The unidentified 83-year-old was found Friday afternoon after firefighters were called to the Ulysses Senior Community. The fire didn't spread to any other units.

Fire department spokeswoman Karlyn Tilley says it appears the woman died of smoke inhalation. An autopsy is planned this week.
