Church Burglary Suspect Arrested, Wanted In Series Of Thefts

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Englewood arrested a man they believe committed more than 19 church burglaries since May 2014.

Jordan Peterson Karr was arrested at 3 p.m. Sunday after police chased him for a while in the 3800 block of South Lincoln Street. Police believe Karr was keeping a low profile to avoid arrest but officers got information he may have been in the area of South Lincoln Street.

Karr, 24, was taken to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Detention Facility for burglary charges as well as an active felony warrant for prior burglary charges.

Police said Karr will be formally charged with numerous counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief later this week.

Karr became a person of interest in a string of church burglaries in Englewood that have occurred since May 2014.

Police believe Karr is responsible for break-ins at 19 churches between May 2014 and March. Several churches have been hit more than once.

Surveillance video at Immanuel Lutheran Church located at 3695 South Acoma Street captured images of the burglar during two separate break-ins on Aug. 20, 2014 and Sept. 13, 2014.

Police said they were able to track down Karr because of help from a Crime Stoppers bulletin. They may be looking for another suspect in connection with the burglaries.
