Child Struck By Vehicle In Southwest Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - A child was seriously injured Wednesday morning in southwest Denver after getting hit by a vehicle.

The incident happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. at West Mosier Place and Zuni Street. Police say the boy, who was on his way to school, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Early reports indicated the boy is 12.

According to Sonny Jackson with Denver police, the driver, whose name hasn't been released, was driving without his lights on when the accident occurred. The driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation.

Jackson said the driver will be cited for not having lights on when required, and for careless driving resulting in serious bodily injury.
